Bloemfontein Celtic missed the chance to go top of the league table with a goalless draw against SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.
Celtic stood with the opportunity to go top of the table with a win, while United tried to close the gap on them by two points.
SuperSport were out to spoil the party though and as early as the fourth minute Luke Fleurs headed narrowly wide at the far post.
Celtic showed their resolve when Ndumiso Mabena ran at the defence before firing in a long range shot, which glided off target on 12 minutes.
Five minutes later, Menzi Masuku’s well construed effort was brilliantly denied by Ronwen Williams who pulled off a great save.
Williams was at it again as he prevented Kabelo Dlamini from breaking through with an outstanding save at the near post.
SupeSport still surged forward for the opener and Teboho Mokoena found himself in rather unfamiliar territory to get a shot away, but Lorenzo Gordinho was there to block his path.
Closer to halftime, Celtic tried to steal an opening goal, but sharp alertness of Williams saw him hurrying off his line to stop a potential opening from taking flight.
In the second half, Celtic missed the chance to go ahead as Tshegofatos Mabasa blazed a golden opportunity off target.
Another chance fell to them with Dlamini left unmarked at the back post, but Williams' one-handed save spared his side's blushes.
Matsatsantsa grabbed the chance to press forward and Evans Rusike was at the end of a curling effort at the back post, but he sent it wide on 70 minutes.
In another offensive moment, Phumlani Ntshangase’s superb volley from the edge of the area brought the best off Patrick Tignyemb who showed great acrobatics to make the save.
Two minutes to the end of added time, Mabena threatened to grab a winner, but the upright denied him an opportunity to grab a winner as they shared the spoils.
