Absa Premiership match report Chippa United v AmaZulu 30 November 2018

Posted: 30 November 2018 Time: 18:26

AmaZulu eased their relegation fears with a 1-0 win over Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Friday evening.

The relegation-threatened duo needed to pick up points in earnest to avoid slipping further into the doldrums.

Usuthu started with loads of enthusiasm in a bid to get the early lead, but was unable to find the breakthrough with their forays leading to naught.

In need of a pick-me-up stimulus, Chippa asked questions of their own and came close to breaking through but poor decision making let them immensely down.

It was the visitors side who looked more promising, with Emiliano Tade in attack proving a handful with his off-the-ball running.

After a dry spell towards, Usuthu drew first blood when Butholeswe Ncube ran down the left before cutting inside to find the bottom corner with a low cut finish four minutes to the break.

In the second half, it was all Usuthu once more with their movement on and off the ball posing a few problems.

The Port Elizabeth side were looking to give the hosts something to cheer and Ruzaigh Gamildien came close to doing that but his effort from an acute angle cleared the top off the crossbar.

Chippa created a few more decent openings through the inventiveness of Thabo Rakhale on the wing as he opened up for Gamildien to cut inside for a shot which didn’t pose any issues.

A nicely played one-two out wide produced a cross-field pass kindly to Zitha Macheke, but he missed a golden opportunity with a dismal finish inside the box.

Four minutes to the end, Buyani Sali failed to steer home at the back post after a low cross came in his direction but the side-netting finish proved his and Chippa’s undoing to defeat.
