Absa Premiership Report: AmaZulu v Bidvest Wits, 9 March 2019

Posted: 9 March 2019 Time: 22:20

AmaZulu got back to winning ways with a smooth sailing 2-0 victory over a ten-man Bidvest Wits at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday night.

Usuthu’s six changes prior to the match included Thembela Sikhakhane, Sadate Ouro-Akoriko, Thapelo Nyongo, Jabulani Ncube, Siyathemba Sithebe and Ovid Karuru.
Wits, on the other hand, hauled four alterations in Bantu Mzwakali, Thabang Monare, Daylon Claasen and Fagrie Lakay.
Pressure has piled on Usuthu following successive defeats, and Bonginkosi Ntuli failed to lessen the burden with Darren Keet making an excellent save on 22 minutes.
The Students who started off slowly began growing but still lacked the cutting edge to get off the mark closer to the interval.
Usuthu changed the complexity through the substitution of Somila Ntsundwana for Talent Chawapihwa upon resumption of the second half.
Following a slow first half, Usuthu sprung to life when Ntuli tapped home Ntsundwana’s square-pass on 48 minutes.
Wits looked for the come back, with Johannes failing to hit target from a back-post header following a cross on 60 minutes.
The KwaZulu Natal outfit looked troublesome on the counter and continuous interventions from Johannes and Thulani Hlatshwayo among let the 2016 champions off the hook.
In the last nine minutes, Ntsundwana outpaced the right side once again to set up Ovidy Karuru for a point-blank finish.
The Clever Boys' woes were compounded with the dismissal of skipper Hlatshwayo following a second bookable offence, as Usuthu resumed their winning formula.
