Absa Premiership match report Polokwane City v Black Leopards 07 April 2019

Posted: 7 April 2019 Time: 13:03

Polokwane City moved up to fifth place on the Absa Premiership standings following a 3-1 victory over Black Leopards on Sunday.

The hosts were unchanged from their goalless draw at Cape Town City, while Tshwarelo Bereng dropped to the bench for Joseph Mhlongo for Dylan Kerr's side.

After a cagey start, Leopards got their noses in front in the 26th minutes as Mwape Musonda headed home his 13th league goal of the season.

City missed a golden opportunity to drew level on 38 minutes when Mohammed Anas’s low shot went round the bottom corner from close range.

soon after, the Rise and Shine equalised after Puleng Tlolane eliminated two bodies to curl one into the top right corner just before the break.

As Bereng replaced Nange five minutes from the break, City went in front after Mpho Mvelase’s low shot cannoned off the post and into the net.

The home side went in search of more goals, as King Ndlovu used his feet to keep out Anas, with Bongile Booi hitting the post minutes later.

With Chigova beaten, Leopards hit the crossbar after Bereng lined-up for a free-kick metres outside the penalty area 15 minutes from time.

Anas sealed the victory in the final 10 minutes after tapping home a perfect lay-off from Jabulani Maluleke as Rise and Shine move up to fifth spot, while Leopards' fail to ease their relegation fears.
