Bidvest Wits progressed to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after cruising to a 4-0 win over ABC Motsepe League side Boyne Tigers in the last 32 on Wednesday evening at Bidvest Stadium.

Gavin Hunt made a number changes from their last line-up against Polokwane City on Sunday, with Thulani Hlatshwayo and Sifiso Hlanti the only two surviving players.

Haashim Domingo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 11th minute with a forceful strike from close range after goalkeeper Sizwe Rabothata could not hold on to fierce strike from Gabadinho Mhango, 1-0.

Domingo made it 2-0 for Hunt’s charges and completed his brace three minutes later with an easy chest trap into the back of the net after Simon Murray lobbed Rabothata.

Murray got the third goal for Wits in the 21st minute with a stunning finish from the outside of his boot after charging his way to the box on the right side, 3-0.

The Clever Boys striker made it 4-0 for the home side seven minutes before halftime with a simple finish after been picked out by Mhango free at the back post.

Hunt was forced to make a substitution in the 62nd minute as Domingo went down with injury and he was replaced by Bantu Mzwakali, before Mkhwanazi made way for Lehlohonolo Nonyane.

Tigers never really looked like scoring before but neither were Wits as the home side took their foot off the gas pedal for most of the second stanza.

However, Mhango had a glorious chance to put the icing on cake with the fifth goal for the Clever Boys two minutes before time but the Malawian guided his header over the bar.

In the end, 4-0 was how the score remained as the Clever Boys eased into the next round of the competition.
