Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael says he will not sit in the stands at Makhulong Stadium today when the Nedbank Cup champions take on the Keyona Team as he is taking the match seriously.

It has become common in this fixture for PSL sides' head coaches to take a backseat and let their assistants take charge of the team. But Eymael says despite respecting the league and the sponsors, he wants to use the game to prepare for their Absa Premiership clash against his former club Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium next weekend.

"What others are doing it is their problem," Eymael told

"Me, I will coach the team. I will travel with the team. I'm coaching the team, it's simple. I'm taking the game seriously because I'm a serious man first of all. But also I respect the sponsor Nedbank. I think about the PSL because also if they organise such a game you have to respect the organisation.

"Secondly, it will be good preparation for the game at Polokwane, so you know it's important for everybody I think. It's the reason why I'm taking this game seriously."

The Belgian says planning for the encounter has not been smooth sailing given he hadn't received clarity on the rules heading into the weekend.

"Rules are not clear, we cannot know how many players we can bring, how many players we can substitute ... One day they say one thing, the other day people told me another thing.

"So if you can have the rules for me it will be a good thing you know because I can't get good information, it's a problem. But no, I will coach the team."
