Orlando Pirates news: Log not distracting Milutin Sredojevic

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has downplayed his side’s position on the log and insists there are other crucial aspects that require their attention.
Sredojevic has guarded against getting carried away by their new-found position atop the Absa Premiership table following their 2-1 victory over Polokwane City this week.
The Buccaneers have hit the summit for only the second time this season as they temporarily hold the advantage over second-placed Bidvest Wits, who were inactive in the league this week.
This coupled with their eight-match unbeaten run in the Premiership, however, is not enough to excite The Serbian tactician – currently in his second season at the helm – as he refuses to be distracted from his team’s overall performance and appearance.
“We are not thinking of that [unbeaten run and standings]. We are focused on the fact that every match we look as a unit,” said ‘Micho’.
“This match [against City] was so important for us because it came just 72 hours since we played a very tough 120 minutes [against AmaZulu three days prior].
“I would say that we are happy, but still far from satisfied. Still, the best is yet to come in the way we are growing this season. We need to grow and improve and, as mentioned, we still need to tighten at the back.
“We need to have a much better display in the engine room – the midfield, and be much more effective going forward, so those are the strategic targets we are working on.”
Pirates are next up against reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who are quickly gaining ground after climbing to fourth with their win over Free State Stars on Wednesday.
