Mamelodi Sundowns winger Aubrey Ngoma says he can't afford to sulk over failing to make the team's CAF Champions League squad.
Ngoma was not registered for the beginning stages of the competition, and while admitting he would have loved to be part of the side, he says he has accepted the technical team's decision.
“Obviously as a player you want to compete on the highest [level of] competition in Africa in football,” Ngoma said.
“It was unfortunate that I was not registered, [but I'm] not [feeling] hard done by about it. I need to keep my mind positive and in a good space when the domestic competitions come. I’m ready to play.
“At this point in time I’m not registered with the club.”
Ngoma, who was named the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season in 2016/17 for his 16 assists and the Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament, has barely featured since his signing from Cape Town City in January, with injuries not helping his cause.
He insists he will not drop his head and will continue to work on gaining coach Pitso Mosimane's favour.
“We are still in three competitions. The CAF Champions League; we still have the Nedbank Cup to play for and we are competing to win the league. So, we are going to be playing a lot of games in a short space of time and definitely the technical team is going to need a lot of players.
“If you are not registered in the CAF, you have to make sure you are ready to compete in the domestic competitions. So, the players that are not registered know that we always have to stay focused on domestic football because there we are registered and eligible to play.”
The 29-year-old has played twice in the league and once in the TKO this campaign.
