Vusi Sibiya can hardly believe he is getting ready to face Soweto giants Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout final on Saturday after being a SAB League player barely three months ago.
Baroka signed defender Sibiya and goalkeeper Skhumbuzo Ncube following their starring efforts in Tshwane University of Technology's Varsity Football triumph in September.
Soshanguve-born Sibiya can barely believe how rapidly his fortunes have changed.
"It's unbelievable that three months ago I was playing in the SAB league. It's unbelievable that about three months ago I was playing in the Varsity Football final, and now yet another great thing is about to happen because we are 90 minutes away from making history," Sibiya tells KickOff.com.
Bakgaga beat Golden Arrows and PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits en-route to their maiden final, but are considered underdogs for the upcoming assignment.
Sibiya has no problem with his club being "written off" for the clash with the Absa Premiership leaders at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth (18h00).
"The spirit in the camp is high, the preparations are going well. Fortunately we have senior players like [Thabiso] Semenya, [Davies] Nkausu and [Letladi] Madubanya, who are guiding us and giving us motivation.
"Pirates are on form. We have been defined as underdogs and everyone has written us off, so we are not under pressure. We just have to go there and prove people wrong."
