Ex-Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen clarifies Chippa United situation

Former Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen has confirmed to that he is in talks with Chippa United to take over at the club.

On Wednesday news broke that Larsen, who was recently sacked by Abafana Bes'thende, is poised to replace interim Chippa coach Joel Masutha.

While Masutha told this website he is still in charge of the Chilli Boys, the writing looks to be on the wall for the former Black Leopards mentor.

"Sure, oh well, we had a meeting yesterday," Larsen said.

"So we still today ... there's a possibility it can be finalised today."

Asked if he was happy with the Port Elizabeth-based club's offer for his services, Larsen said: "It's not about the offer you know. I don't think it's about the offer, it's been about other things around my family and moving, and stuff like that.

"So it's not about the offer yeah. I always put my family first."

Chippa are second-from-bottom on the table with just two wins from their 17 Absa Premiership matches so far this season.

The side's poor form prompted notoriously trigger-happy owner Siviwe Mpengesi to fire Dan Malesela and Eric Tinkler prior to hiring Masutha in December.
