Steve Komphela believes Golden Arrows can compete in both league and cup

Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela believes with a little bit of luck his side can compete for a top-eight finish and go further in the Nedbank Cup.

With nine league matches remaining and Arrows in 10th place on the log, four points from a position in the top eight, they are well placed to challenge for a place in the MTN8 next season.

Abafana Bes'thende are also in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals and will face Bloemfontein Celtic for a place in the last four.

It is now a critical stage of the season with every team wanting to collect maximum points from bottom to top, and there are at least seven teams in the race for the last three spots of the top eight.

Komphela believes his side can challenge on both fronts but knows Arrows will also need some luck to be able to come up with good results.

"At this stage of the season, luck plays a huge role in results," Komphela said.

"Good thing, we are not fighting relegation, it won't be that hard for us to push for cup and league games, we can manage to drive both.

"We are not under pressure so we need to be confident and remain optimistic. In life you must always see the light in the darkness."

Arrows will host a motivated Orlando Pirates team on Saturday after their dominant 4-1 win over AmaZulu. Kick-off at Princess Magogo Stadium is at 20h15.
