Golden Arrows coach Steve Komphela believes at this stage of the season mental strength will be key to deciding matches as we approach the finishing line.
Speaking after their 1-0 loss to Orlando Pirates at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday night, Komphela said the difference was the goal as he felt both teams delivered on the night.
"We both played well, we didn't allow each other to build from the back, there were too many turnovers throughout the game, it was just clarity of how we both play," he said.
"There were times we looked desperate, especially after we conceded, I think we played better and showed hunger but unfortunately we couldn't capitalise."
Komphela believes this time of the season demands mental strength from every team and is still positive about finishing in the top eight.
"Many teams haven't reached the 30-point mark, it shows how tough the league is. In terms of South African stats if you're at 30-33 points you're safe, 40 you're in the top eight and then 60 and above you win the title," he explained.
"It all about mental strength, it's a dog [eats dog] world, those who are more hungry will get results."
Arrows take on fellow top-eight hopefuls Polokwane City away from home in their next league match on Saturday, with a hefty seven points separating the two sides.
