Cristiano Ronaldo: Atletico boss Diego Simeone on Juventus forward copying controversial celebration

Posted: 13 March 2019 Time: 11:00

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has opened up about Cristiano Ronaldo imitating his controversial 'cojones' celebration during Juventus' historic UEFA Champions League comeback on Tuesday.

Ronaldo pulled off another Champions League masterclass as he helped the Italian giants overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit in the round-of-16 against the LaLiga side.

His incredible treble on the evening sparked wild celebrations in Turin amidst his celebration in which he copied from Simeone after their surprise win in Madrid.

Simeone grabbed his crotch in celebration, saying later it was in reference to the fact his team had shown "a lot of balls" to win but he was slapped with a £17,000 fine from UEFA shortly after.

"He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano and, like me, was trying to show his character," Simeone said after the game, as per Mail Online.

"Ronaldo is the best in the world, he can put in these performances on big nights."

Ronaldo has now been a part of a team to knock Atletico Madrid out of Europe's elite club competition every season since the 2013/14 campaign.
